HOUSTON – Gulping down a fresh cup of cleaning chemicals while dinning at a Conroe Salata resulted in a trip to the hospital for Megan Bean, according to a lawsuit she recently filed.

Seeking up to $250,000 in damages, Bean filed suit against Salata on Monday, claiming the restaurant negligently failed to ensure the beverages it provided were safe for human consumption.

According to her lawsuit, on March 24 Bean went to Salata and proceeded through the salad bar line, grabbing a cup for her beverage. She then went to the drinks dispensary and filled up her cup with what she believed was tea.

“Bean drank from the cup … and began to experience pain in her abdomen,” the suit states. “Shortly thereafter, Bean learned that the liquid … she ended up consuming was in fact a cleaning chemical that is not safe for human consumption.”

Bean was rushed to the hospital.

She is alleging gross negligence and seeks damages for her medical expenses, lost wages, pain and mental anguish.

Pasadena attorney Wisam Ghuneim represents her.

Filed in Harris County District Court, case No. 2021-31050
