HOUSTON – The 14th Court of Appeals today remanded a slip and fall case against the city of Houston for dismissal.

The lawsuit was brought by Patti Gonzales, who claims she slipped and fell at salad bar restaurant inside Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport back in 2016.

Court records show the city responded to the suit by filing a plea to the jurisdiction, seeking dismissal on the grounds of governmental immunity.

The trial court denied the plea and an appeal ensued.

Justices found the trial court lacked subject-matter jurisdiction, reversing the trial court and remanding the case with instructions to dismiss Gonzales’ suit.
