A dramatic incident involving a dog attack has led to a lawsuit filed in Harris County, Texas. The plaintiff, Christina Bello, claims she was seriously injured by a dog owned by Laurie Weaver Lindaman. On May 1, 2025, Bello filed her original petition against Lindaman in the District Court of Harris County, seeking justice for the injuries she sustained during the attack.
The incident in question occurred on May 11, 2023, when Bello was loading groceries into her car and was suddenly attacked by Lindaman's dog. According to the complaint, the attack resulted in serious injuries to Bello. She asserts that nothing she did provoked the attack; rather, it was due to Lindaman's negligence. The lawsuit accuses Lindaman of failing to exercise reasonable care to prevent the dog from causing harm and not confining or controlling the animal properly. Furthermore, Bello alleges that Lindaman failed to render aid during the attack and neglected to train or restrain the dog adequately.
Bello's petition also includes accusations of gross negligence against Lindaman. It is claimed that Lindaman was aware of the dog's aggressive tendencies yet allowed it to roam freely despite knowing it could pose a risk to others. The lawsuit states that Lindaman ignored warnings such as screams and barks during the attack and had prior knowledge of the dog's dangerous propensities.
In addition to negligence claims, Bello invokes the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur, suggesting that the circumstances leading to her injuries would not have occurred without Lindaman's negligence since she had exclusive control over the situation. As a result of these allegations, Bello seeks damages ranging from $250,000 to $1 million for physical pain, mental anguish, medical expenses, and other related damages.
