HOUSTON — A Harris County METRO bus passenger claims she was thrown to the ground and suffered injuries when the bus driver started driving before she was seated.

Kathleen Davidson filed a complaint July 2 in Harris County District Court against Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County alleging negligence.

According to Davidson's suit, she was a passenger on a Harris County METRO bus on Sept. 26, 2019. She claims she boarded the bus and paid her fare and began walking to a seat when the bus driver suddenly started driving.

Davidson alleges she was thrown to the floor and suffered injuries including physical impairment and incapacity as well as lost wages. She also alleges she has suffered mental anguish and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the accident. Davidson claims the bus driver failed to keep a proper lookout for passengers and failed to operate the bus in a "reasonable and prudent manner."

Davidson seeks monetary relief of less than $250,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Davis Haines and Megan Carter Hartman of Haines Law PC in Kingwood.
