HOUSTON — A Houston construction company is facing a claim it fraudulently induced a woman to sign a home remodel contract which allowed them to receive all funds up front, completed less than half of the job and provided poor workmanship.

Teresa West filed a complaint July 15 in Harris County District Court against Hadad Design and Construction Inc., alleging deceptive trade practices, breach of warranty, fraud and other claims.

West alleges in her suit that she contracted with Hadad Design and Construction on June 20, 2020, for an $85,675 remodel job of her two bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room and whole house tile. She claims she gave Hadad a $10,675 down payment and financed the balance through Hadad's "in-house finance company."

West further claims Hadad "misleading rushed" her through the signature pages of her contract that included an authorization for "up-front full disbursement" to Hadad and refused to provide her with a copy of the contract.

She also claims that despite the project's completion date being November of 2020, that the project is still less than half complete with substandard construction. West alleges that in addition to suffering economic damages due to Hadad's actions, she has also suffered mental anguish including panic attacks.

West seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Bogdan Grosu of The Grosu Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
