HOUSTON — A former Home Depot worker is claiming the company's negligence after a coworker dropped a metal bar on her foot and caused her to suffer serious injuries.

Jessica Reyes filed a complaint July 23 in Harris County District Court against Home Depot U.S.A., Inc., alleging negligence.

Reyes alleges in her complaint that while working at a Home Depot store in Houston on Oct. 1, 2019, a fellow employee dropped a metal bar on her foot and cause her to suffer serious injuries.

She claims as a result of those injuries she has suffered disfigurement, impairment, mental anguish as well as lost wages. Reyes also claims she incurred medical care expenses as a result of her injuries. Reyes alleges Home Depot was negligent for creating the "unreasonable risk of harm" to an employee and failed to train its employees or to implement safety protocols.

Reyes seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Attorney Kraig Rushing in Houston.
