HOUSTON — A woman who was injured by a falling mailbox at an apartment complex in Humble is claiming negligence.

Shaundrea Bering filed a complaint July 26 in Harris County District Court against Waterchase Apartments LLC and Rockstar Capital Management LLC alleging negligence.

Bering alleges in her suit that while at the defendant's apartment complex on Golden Eagle Drive in Humble on Aug. 9, 2019, the mailbox fell on her and caused her to suffer "severe, excruciating and painful debilitating" injuries. She claims the defendants were negligent for failing to adequately construct the mailbox, failing to maintain and inspect the mailbox or to warn her of the danger.

Bering also claims the defendants were negligence for not training their employees to properly manage the premises to prevent the dangerous condition. Bering alleges she also suffered from loss of earning capacity and incurred out-of-pocket medical expenses as a result of the accident.

Bering seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million and all other just relief. She is represented by Frank Sedita, Matthew Stano and Jason Brooks of The Stano Law Firm in Humble.
