A Houston resident has filed a lawsuit against a local business, alleging severe negligence that resulted in significant personal injury. Lizeth Quiroz Mendoza initiated legal action against Kirk Wood Ops, LLC, doing business as La Pasha Lounge & Grill, on February 13, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. The complaint accuses the defendant of creating unsafe conditions that led to Mendoza's injuries.
The incident at the heart of this case occurred on March 12, 2025. According to the petition filed by Mendoza, she was an invitee at La Pasha Lounge & Grill located at 2475 South Kirkwood Road in Houston when a pot of boiling water fell and splashed onto her feet and ankles. This accident resulted in severe burns and subsequent injuries for which Mendoza holds the establishment responsible. She argues that the defendant's negligence created an unreasonable risk of harm to visitors like herself. "Defendant knew or should have known of this hazardous condition but failed to remedy it or warn patrons," the petition states.
Mendoza's complaint outlines several areas where she believes Kirk Wood Ops was negligent. It claims that the company failed to train its employees adequately regarding kitchen safety protocols and did not address or correct dangerous conditions on its premises. Furthermore, it alleges that the company neglected to inform patrons about potential dangers within their establishment. As a result of these oversights, Mendoza suffered significant physical pain and mental anguish.
In seeking justice through this lawsuit, Mendoza is requesting monetary compensation for various damages incurred due to her injuries. These include past and future physical pain and mental anguish, lost wages and diminished earning capacity, physical disfigurement and impairment both past and future, medical expenses already incurred as well as anticipated future costs, exemplary damages intended to punish particularly egregious conduct by the defendant, and any other damages permitted by law or equity. The plaintiff specifies that she seeks monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million.
Representing Lizeth Quiroz Mendoza is attorney Kraig L. Rushing from his law firm based in Houston. The case is being heard under Judge Marilyn Burgess in Harris County's 157th District Court with Case ID 2025-09994.
