HOUSTON — A couple is claiming negligence after the wife tripped and fell in an Aldi parking lot in Houston and suffered serious injuries.

Patricia Nelkin and Bill Nelkin filed a complaint Aug. 10 in Harris County District Cort against Aldi (Texas) LLC alleging negligence.

The Nelkins allege in their complaint that Patricia Nelkin suffered serious and permanent injuries while exiting her vehicle in the parking lot of an Aldi in Houston. Specifically, the plaintiffs claim that on Jan. 14, 2021, Patricia Nelkin fell over a parking stop in the Aldi parking lot and claim the negligence of Aldi for allowing the dangerous condition to exist on their premises.

The plaintiffs also claim Aldi failed to warn of inadequate lighting in the parking lot, failed to "offer assistive devices necessary" under the circumstances, and failed to warn of the tripping hazard. The plaintiffs allege that Patricia Nelkin also suffered mental anguish, disfigurement and lost earnings as a result of the fall as well as incurred medical treatment costs.

The Nelkins seek monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Jeffrey Todd of The Todd Law Group PLLC in Houston.
