HOUSTON — A man who suffered when a ceiling collapsed on him while he was sleeping in bed is claiming the property owner's negligence.

Terrance Williams filed a complaint Aug. 23 in Harris County District Court against Caldas H&A Management LLC alleging negligence.

Williams claims in his suit that on Aug. 10, 2021, he was on the defendant's property and while sleeping in bed, the ceiling above him collapsed. He alleges that he was struck on the head, face and chest and suffered serious bodily injuries.

Williams claims the defendant was negligent for failing to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition, failed to inspect and correct the condition or warn him of the hazard on the premises. He also claims the defendant negligently hired and retained its employees and failed to train or supervise its employees.

Williams alleges he has suffered physical impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and incurred medical expenses as a result of his injuries from the ceiling collapse.

Williams seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Brevin Jackson of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
