HOUSTON — A man who suffered the loss of eye after an assault at a Houston bar is claiming the establishment's negligence for failing to call police.

Jon Manning filed a complaint Sept. 6 in Harris County District Court against The Corner alleging premises liability and negligence.

Manning alleges in his complaint that he was celebrating his birthday at The Corner on North Sam Houston Parkway in East Houston on Sept. 6, 2019. He alleges that he purchased drinks for two female patrons and while paying for them was attacked.

Manning claims he woke up in an ambulance and could not see well and as a result of the attack, he suffered the loss of his eye. He alleges  that the defendants called an ambulance for him but failed to contact the police and allowed the men who assaulted him to leave the premises.

Manning further alleges the defendant was negligent for failing to warn of the unreasonably dangerous person in question, failing to train its employees on how to keep the premises safe and failing to contact police after witnessing a physical assault on their premises.

Manning seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by George Powell of The Powell Law Firm - Texas Trial Lawyers PLLC in Houston.
