HOUSTON — A woman who slipped on a puddle of water at the checkout of a Houston Foodarama and suffered injuries is claiming negligence.
Marivel Hernandez Benitez filed a complaint Sept. 23 in Harris County District Court against Cox's Foodarama Inc., doing business as Foodarama #7 alleging negligence and other claims.
According to her complaint, Benitez was at the defendant's Wilcrest Road location in Houston on July 24, 2020. She claims that while in the check out line, she suddenly slipped and fell on a puddle of water on the floor by the register and suffered injuries.
Benitez alleges she suffered pain, mental anguish, impairment and incurred medical treatment costs as a result of her slip and fall. She claims the defendant failed to properly inspect and maintain the store, failed to warn of the danger and that their employees knew or should have known of the dangerous condition.
Benitez seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Christopher Ngo of The Law Offices of Domingo Garcia LLP in Houston.
