HOUSTON – A woman is suing a grocer after a part from a food cooler allegedly hit her in the head and caused dust to get in her eye.

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Latonya Williams filed suit against Aldi in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Jan. 9 Williams was grocery shopping at an Aldi when a part from a frozen food cooler fell and struck her in the head.

“Dirt/dust also fell into (Williams’) eye causing further injury,” the suit states, adding that Aldi “negligently allowed the cooler” to become “extremely dangerous.”

Her injuries include damage to her hearing and vision.

Williams is suing for her pain, medical expenses, lost earnings, disfigurement, impairment and loss of enjoyment of life.

Houston attorney Roger Merrill represents her.
