HOUSTON — A Harris County couple allege their contractor's negligence caused multiple defects in their new home.

Brian Johnson and Jennifer Haass filed a complaint Oct. 25 in Harris County District Court against Centre Interests Inc., individually and doing business as Centre Interests Inc., Centre Builders and others alleging negligence, violation of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and other claims.

The plaintiffs contracted with the defendants on April 221, 2017, to build their new home in Nassau Bay in Harris County, according to their suit. They allege that in December of 2017, they began to notice defects with the work done by the defendants including a sagging floor and leaks in the master bath windows which were never properly repaired.

They further allege that after moving in on Sept. 19, 2018, they found a leak in the dining room window, a plumbing leak in the basement, a leak behind a wall and buckling of the wood floor, roof damage, mold and other issues. The plaintiffs claim the defendants failed to perform the improvements to the property with ordinary care and negligently represented they were competent to perform the work, failed to comply with applicable codes and failed to properly schedule trades.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Attorney Stephanie Harp in Houston.
