HOUSTON — A woman is claiming malpractice after having the wrong tooth pulled during a dental procedure.

Lashay Kenny filed a complaint Dec. 28 in Harris County District Court against Laith Mahmood, DDS, M.D., and Laith Mahmood DDS, M.D., PLLC doing business as Parkway Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, Kenny was referred to Parkway for the extraction of several teeth. She alleges that Mahmood extracted one of the wrong teeth which caused her to suffer "extreme" pain and loss of a healthy tooth which required additional dental treatment and dental restorations.

Kenny claims Mahmood's negligence for failing to maintain "appropriate judgement" before, during and after her procedure and for failing to do "what an ordinary prudent dental and medical provider" should have done.

She also claims Mahmood did not meet the standards of care as a licensed dentist in the state of Texas which caused her to suffer harm including having to incur medical expenses, disfigurement and impairment.

Kenny seeks monetary relief not to exceed $250,000, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Shane Kadlec and Brittany Schuchmann in Houston.
