HOUSTON — A United Airline passenger alleges he suffered injuries during  turbulence.

David Chapman filed a complaint Jan. 18 in Harris County District Court against United Airlines Inc., Mesa Air Group Inc., Mesa Airlines Inc., and John/Jane Doe alleging liability and negligence.

Chapman, according to his complaint, was a passenger aboard a United Airlines flight from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Houston on Feb. 28, 2018, which was being operated by Mesa. He alleges that the pilot flew directly into a storm which caused turbulence and a flight attendant to be pushed to the roof and drop down on his face.

He further alleges his seat belt was yanked which caused him to suffer neck and back injuries.

He alleges United and Mesa failed to train its pilots for hazardous weather conditions, failed to have medical staff on the ground and that the pilot refused to divert the plane to avoid the storm.

Chapman also alleges the pilot did not comply with the required policies and procedures for hazardous weather conditions.

Chapman seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief.

He is represented by J. Robert Miller, Jr., Emily Copeland Bryant and Meian Heydari of Miller Bryant LLP in Dallas and Ron McCallum of Ron C. McCallum and Associates PLLC in Dallas.
