HOUSTON — A biopharmaceutical company alleges an employee illegally obtained company records and used a company credit card to purchase personal items after being terminated.

Syneos Health filed a complaint Feb. 14 in Harris County District Court against Traci Solomon alleging violation of the Texas Theft Liability Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and other claims.

According to Syneos' complaint, Solomon worked as clinical research associate and had access to company records including clinical research trials information, some of which she could access through a third-party IT vendor. They allege that in December of 2021, Solomon was fired due to their discovery that she was working with a competitor.

Syneos further alleges that shortly after being terminated, Solomon used a company credit card to buy $2,700 in Gucci items and charged more than $4,000 on the company credit card. Syneos claims Solomon refuses to return her company issued laptop and that she has logged onto a third-party data vendor's system to delete and modify confidential company information. Syneos claims Solomon threatened to continue to misappropriate their trade secrets and confidential information.

Syneos seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Jeff Mayes of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart PC in Houston.
