Suit alleges welder ignited chemical bottle and caused explosion

HOUSTON - A man is claiming he was injured in an explosion at Nick’s Tire Shop. 

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Jose Munoz filed suit against Nick’s Tire Shop on March 28 in Harris County District Court. 

According to the lawsuit, on May 30, 2020 the plaintiff was an invitee at the defendant’s premises and was seriously burned when a chemical bottle exploded because a welder caught the can on fire. 

The suit alleges negligence and seeks damages for the plaintiff’s alleged past and future pain, lost wages, disfigurement and medical care. The plaintiff is also seeking exemplary damages. 

Houston attorney Kraig Rushing represents the plaintiff.
