Texas City resident alleges contractors she paid $80,000 walked off job

Lawsuits

GALVESTON — A Texas City woman alleges her contractors walked off the job despite being paid $80,000.

Carol Kraemer filed a complaint May 19 in Galveston County District Court against Billy Salinas doing business as Alpha & Omega Contractors, Yanci Salinas and Dion Salinas alleging breach of contract, breach of implied warranties, fraudulent misrepresentation and other claims.

Kraemer alleges in her complaint that she made payments to the defendants, whom she hired for renovations and repairs to her residence in Texas City, in the amounts of $45,000 and $35,000. She claims that they charged her "exorbitant amounts" and did not fully complete the work outlined in the invoices. Kraemer further claims the defendants continue to make false promises that the needed repairs will be done and that they walked off the job before finishing the project.

She alleges the defendants delayed and rescheduled work in order to induce her into continue to make payments. Kraemer claims she was forced to spend additional funds for a new contractor to complete the remaining original repairs and correct the faulty repairs. She also claims the defendants' actions violated the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and that they disabled their business website in order to create "another sham entity."

Kraemer seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Melissa Sternfels and Saad Aziz of Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley & Norton LLP in Houston.
