HOUSTON — A woman alleges she suffered bites from a bedbug infestation at a WoodSpring Suites in Humble.

Moon Cusimano filed a complaint July 11 in Harris County District Court against Three VP Texas LP doing business as WoodSpring Suites alleging negligence, violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and breach of contract.

Cusimano alleges in her suit that while staying at the WoodSpring Suites in Humble on Jan 10, 2021, she awoke to find she was bitten by bedbugs. She claims the bites resulted in painful and irritated lesions all over her body. Cusimano alleges WoodSpring failed to rent its property in a reasonably safe condition, failed to inspect its property and failed to properly clean the premises.

She also alleges WoodSpring's negligence for failing to notify her of the risk of bedbug infestation and for not disclosing the bedbug activity on their property. Cusimano claims WoodSprings was also negligent for not properly eradicating the bedbugs and that they breached their contract by providing a property that was infested with bedbugs.

She further claims WoodSpring violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act with its actions. Cusimano alleges she also suffered impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and incurred medical expenses as a result of the bedbug infestation.

Cusimano seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Daniel "Tad" Rice of The Rice Law Firm in The Woodlands.
