Tractor trailer driver allegedly injured during pipe loading sues Gulf Stream Marine

HOUSTON — A tractor trailer driver alleges he was struck with a load of pipes while his truck was being loaded at a site in Harris County. 

Ruben Maldonado  filed a complaint July 25 in Harris County District Court against Gulf Stream Marine Inc., alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Maldonado was operating a tractor-trailer and picking up a large load of pipes at a site located on Peninsula Street in Harris County on July 6, 2022. He alleges that Gulf Stream Marine, who was responsible for loading the pipes onto his trailer, failed to "observe" him, struck him with several pipes and caused him to suffered severe injuries. 

Maldonado claims Gulf Stream's negligence for failing to institute proper safety policies and procedures, failed to hire or contract competent personnel and did not have reasonable supervision at the site. He also claims Gulf Stream Marine was negligent for failing to make its premises safe. Maldonado alleges he suffered impairment, disfigurement, loss of earning capacity and incurred medical expenses as a result of the accident. 

Maldonado seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by J. Cedillos of Cedillos PLLC in Houston.
