HOUSTON — A woman who slipped on a wet floor at a check cashing store in Houston is claiming negligence.

Delores Austin filed a complaint Oct. 3 in Harris County District Court against PLS Financial Services doing business as PLS Check Cashing alleging negligence and premises liability.

Austin alleges in her complaint that she was at PLS Check Cashing on Westheimer Road in Houston on Oct. 1, 2021. She claims that as she entered the store, she slipped and fell due to a wet floor and suffered injuries. Austin claims PLS's negligence for failing to adequately operate and maintain their equipment and remove any dangerous conditions on the premises.

She also claims PLS failed to warn of the dangerous condition and failed to ensure the safety of its patrons. Austin alleges that as a result of her fall, she suffered pain, impairment, loss of earning capacity and incurred medical expenses.

Austin seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Matthew Mendoza and W. Clark Martin, IV of The Martin Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
