AUSTIN - The Teacher Retirement System of Texas has submitted an approval request to the Office of the Attorney General, seeking to have the law firm of Fox Williams represent it in a class action against Glencore.
OAG records show TRS submitted the request on Sept. 13.
According to the request letter, on Aug. 8 TRS was notified of a class action lawsuit alleging that Glencore engaged in disclosure violations arising from misleading statements, resulting in financial consequences to common stock purchasers.
The class action claims relate to accounting irregularities, financial consequences to common stock purchasers, and the public disclosure violations and misrepresentations during the relevant period, the letter states.
“As a member of an investor group, TRS requires locally-barred representation to pursue claims in English court on behalf of TRS,” the letter states. “After seeking multiple sources of counsel in England who are qualified and available on short notice, TRS selected Fox Williams LLP to represent TRS in the class action.”
The letter is signed by J.R. Morgan, assistant general counsel for TRS.
