HOUSTON — A former volleyball coach at Holy Patriot University alleges she was not paid for overtime work.
Courtney Willis filed a complaint Oct. 24 in Harris County District Court against Holy Patriot University alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and other claims.
According to her complaint, Willis worked for Holy Patriot University as a volleyball coach from March 2022 through August 2022. She alleges that part of her job included starting the volleyball program and recruiting players prior to the the start of the school year. Willis claims that the university did not provide her any wage compensation for her recruiting and fundraising activities on behalf of the school. She also claims she worked in excess of 40 hours per week and that Holy Patriot University "showed a reckless disregard" to its pay practices in violation of the FLSA.
Willis alleges that the university also failed to keep proper time records and that she is entitled to back wages.
Willis seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief.
