Bradley is pleased to announce that Meghan Dawson McElvy has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner in the Construction Practice Group and Energy Practice Group.

Ms. McElvy represents clients in a broad range of energy matters with a focus on energy litigation, including before state and federal courts, domestic and international arbitral tribunals, and governing state agencies. She routinely advises energy clients on disputes arising from virtually every aspect of the development of shale plays and horizontal drilling throughout Texas and the United States, including disputes involving oil and gas leases, joint operating agreements, participation agreements, royalty obligations, surface use agreements, mineral title, master services agreements with contractors, and commingling and allocation wells.
Ms. McElvy also has represented clients in contested regulatory proceedings before the Texas Public Utility Commission and Texas Railroad Commission concerning rates, permits, and licensing or abandonment of energy infrastructure. Her energy practice also extends offshore, where she has counseled clients regarding offshore decommissioning obligations for Gulf of Mexico exploration and production facilities, and internationally, where she has represented and counseled clients on matters subject to ICDR, ICC and UNCITRAL arbitration. In addition to energy litigation, Ms. McElvy has represented numerous commercial and industrial clients concerning construction and manufacturing defects, warranties and mechanics, materialman’s and mineral liens.
Ms. McElvy enjoys counseling her clients on a wide range of energy transition issues, for which her extensive background in the areas of energy and construction law make her uniquely well-suited.
Ms. McElvy earned her B.B.A. in Finance from Southern Methodist University in 2003 and her J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School in 2008. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the State Bar of Texas Foundation and currently serves as treasurer of the Houston Bar Association’s Gas and Mineral Law Section. She has been recognized in Chambers USA for her expertise and accomplishments in the area of Nationwide Oil & Gas Litigation since 2020.
