Restaurant employee alleges owners failed to provide safe workplace

GALVESTON — A Crystal Beach restaurant employee alleges the owners failed to provide a safe workplace which caused her to fall and suffer injuries. 

Laura M. Tovar filed a complaint March 29 in Galveston County District Court against Steve's Landing Restaurant LTD, Steve's Landing and Marina Inc., and others alleging negligence. 

According to her complaint, Tovar was working at Steve's Landing Restaurant in Crystal Beach on May 20, 2021. She claims that she fell and suffered injury to her knees and other parts of her body. Tovar alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to control the conduct of its employees/agents, failed to properly train and supervise its employees and did not properly maintain faulty equipment. 

She also alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to install proper safety devices, failing to provide a reasonably safe workplace and for failing to warn her of the dangerous condition. She futher alleges she suffered impairment, disfigurement, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the defendants' negligence.

Tovar seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Fabiana Baum of The Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
