HOUSTON — A contractor worker at chemical plant who was injured in an explosion is claiming negligence.

Arturo Jimenez filed a complaint April 3 in Harris County District Court against Ineos Americas LLC and Ineos USA Inc., alleging negligence and premises liability.

Jimenez claims that on March 22, 2023, he was working at the defendants' facility in Pasadena. He alleges that there was a sudden explosion that caused him to be thrown to the ground and to suffer injuries to his neck, back, spine and other parts of his body. He further alleges that he and his coworkers attempted to evacuate the facility but were trapped due to the exits being closed when subsequent explosions occurred.

Jimenez claims the defendants' negligence for failing to properly supervise their contractors or provide adequate equipment. He also claims the defendants did not conduct adequate maintenance, have a safe work environment or give adequate warning about the dangerous condition. Jimenez alleges the defendants were also negligent for not providing adequate medical treatment or implement proper safety policies and procedures.

Jimenez seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Kurt Arnold, Jason Itkin and Adam Lewis of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
