GALVESTON — A restaurant patron alleges poor lighting in a stairway caused her fall and serious injuries.

Michelle Slaughter-Davis filed a complaint April 13 in Galveston County District Court against West End Marina Inc., doing business as West End Marina Restaurant.

The plaintiff claims in her complaint that she was at the West End Marina Restaurant on Burnet Drive in Galveston on Dec. 28, 2022. She alleges that as she was leaving the restaurant, the stairway to the parking lot from the second floor was not properly illuminated which caused her to trip and roll down the stairs.

The plaintiff claims West End failed to make the stairway reasonably safe which caused her to suffer severe injuries, mental anguish, lost earnings, disfigurement and to incur medical treatment expenses.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Donald Kidd and Scott Frase of Perdue & Kidd in Houston.
