HOUSTON — A drilling rig worker alleges negligence after a pipe/tube fell on top of him and caused him to suffer severe injuries.

Alberto Salas also known as Luis Rodriguez filed a complaint May 1 in Harris County District Court against Patterson-UTI Drilling Company LLC alleging negligence.

Salas, according to his complaint, was working on scaffolding at a site owned by Patterson in Lea County, New Mexico on March 11, 2023. He claims a Patterson employee, without warning, elevated a pipe/tube too fast and continuous pace and dropped the pipe/tube on top of him which caused injuries to his neck, back, arm, legs, head and shoulders.

Salas alleges Patterson's negligence for failing to safely operate the rig and properly maintain and monitor the area. He also alleges Patterson failed to adequately screen and train workers at the site and did not warn of the dangers. Salas claims he suffered pain, impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the accident.

Salas seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by R. Keith Weber, Jr., of Heriberto Ramos & Associates PC in Houston.
