HOUSTON – A shopper is suing a Houston H Mart store after she allegedly slipped on a slick substance in the store and injured herself.
Plaintiff Susan Calderon filed the lawsuit in the Harris County Circuit Court against H Mart, Houston, Inc., citing premise liability and gross negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Calderon was a patron at an H Mart store in Houston on Aug. 16, 2022. She claims that while she was in the store's bakery, she stepped on a slippery substance on the floor, causing her to slip, fall, and injure herself. Calderson claims that while a store employee helped her, the employee remarked that there had been reports of a slippery substance in the area where Calderon fell.
According to Calderon, the defendants negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of their customers.
Calderon alleges that as a result of the defendant's negligence, she has sustained injuries that have caused her to experience pain, suffering, disability, mental anguish, and lost wages, and claims that her injuries will impact her ability to earn income and lead a normal life. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover from her injuries.
The plaintiff is seeking damages plus interest, court costs, and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Lex M. Allgaier of Brian White & Associates, P.C. in Houston.
