Man sues claiming unleashed dog bit his hand

HOUSTON - An area resident has filed suit against a Houston man after he was allegedly bitten by a dog that was not leashed. 

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Apolinar Rodarte filed suit against Juan Vicente on Jan. 29 in Harris County District Court. 

According to the lawsuit, on May 10, 2023, Vicente allegedly allowed his dog to run free, and the dog bit Rodarte on the hand. 

He is accusing the defendant of negligently failing to leash and handle his dog properly. 

The plaintiff is suing for his pain, mental anguish, impairment, medical expenses and lost wages.
