HOUSTON - A roofer who slipped off the roof he was working on is suing the roofing company who employed him, alleging he was not provided slip-resistant footwear.
Seeking more than $1 million in damages, German Perez filed suit against Roof Top Innovations on Feb. 9 in Harris County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on June 20, 2023, Perez was employed as a roofer by RTI. He was working on a roof in Waco when he slipped off the roof as the shingles were hot and became slippery, causing him to fracture an elbow and injure his back and hips.
The suit alleges Perez was not provided with slip-resistant footwear or any type of tie off safety equipment.
The plaintiff is alleging gross negligence and is seeking exemplary damages.
