Artur Abel and Michelle Carcallas have filed a lawsuit against Bret Peters in the District Court of Harris County, Texas under case ID 2024-21571. The filing was made on April 5, 2024, by their respective lawyers. The plaintiffs are seeking damages for an incident that occurred on June 04, 2022, involving a motor vehicle collision.

The accident took place when Abel and Carcallas were traveling southbound on the 5200 block of South Freeway in Harris County, Texas. They were riding in a 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport with Abel driving and Carcallas as his passenger. Peters, who was driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Raider behind them, failed to control his speed and collided with the rear of the plaintiffs' vehicle.

The plaintiffs claim that as a result of Peters' negligence and negligence per se, they sustained serious bodily injuries which necessitated medical treatment. They accuse Peters of failing to keep a proper lookout, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, adequately apply brakes, control his speed, take evasive action to avoid the collision among other negligent acts.

Abel and Carcallas are seeking monetary relief over $250 but less than $1,000,000 from Peters for their injuries and damages. They have also demanded a jury trial for their case.
