A construction worker has filed a lawsuit seeking substantial damages after a severe workplace injury. On June 5, 2024, Orlando Antonio Castillo filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against Risen Construction, LLC and its registered agent Jose Alcorta Torres.

The incident in question occurred on August 10, 2022. Castillo was employed by Risen Construction and was performing his duties when he was critically injured by a malfunctioning saw blade that ejected and impaled him in the chest. Castillo alleges that this incident resulted from negligence on the part of Risen Construction, LLC. The plaintiff asserts that the company failed to maintain safe working conditions and did not adequately train or supervise its employees. The complaint details various forms of negligence including failure to recognize and correct unsafe conditions at the job site, inadequate safety procedures, and failure to provide safe tools and equipment.

Castillo is seeking monetary relief between $250,000 and $1,000,000 for medical expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment, lost wages, and future loss of earning capacity. He claims that the injuries have caused permanent debilitating physical harm which has significantly impacted his life.

The case is being handled by attorneys Sarah Y-Nhi Huynh from The Huynh Law Firm PLLC along with Hilda Leonor Sibrian from The Law Offices of Hilda L. Sibrian PC. It will be presided over by Judge Rhonda Momon in the 152nd Judicial District Court under Case ID 2024-35297.
