A seaman from Louisiana has filed a lawsuit against a Texas-based offshore drilling company, alleging severe injuries sustained while on duty. The complaint was filed by Peyden Robb in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on August 21, 2024, against Seadrill Americas, Inc.

According to the court documents, Robb claims that he was injured on March 7, 2024, while working aboard the WEST NEPTUNE vessel as part of his employment with Seadrill Americas. The incident occurred when a drill line fell and struck him, causing significant injuries to his shoulder and arm. Robb alleges that these injuries required extensive medical treatment and were a direct result of negligence on the part of Seadrill Americas.

Robb's petition outlines several accusations against Seadrill Americas. He asserts that the company failed to provide a safe workplace and did not properly inspect or maintain the vessel and its equipment. Furthermore, he claims that Seadrill did not offer adequate supervision or training for its crew members. "Defendant had the absolute and non-delegable duty to provide a safe workplace," states the petition. Robb also accuses Seadrill of failing to provide a seaworthy vessel and sufficient personnel for the job at hand.

The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief from the court. These include compensation for past and future medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earning capacity, and other related damages. Additionally, Robb is requesting maintenance and cure benefits due to his status as a Jones Act seaman injured during employment. He also seeks punitive damages if it is found that Seadrill intentionally or maliciously refused to provide these benefits.

Representing Peyden Robb are attorneys Ryan H. Zehl and Justin C. Warner from Zehl & Associates PC. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-55279 in the 165th District Court of Harris County.
