A Houston resident has filed a lawsuit against a waste management company and one of its employees, alleging negligence that led to serious injuries. Tan T. Vang lodged the complaint in Harris County District Court on September 3, 2024, targeting Consolidated Waste, LLC doing business as Liquid Waste Solutions, and employee Jarish Davis.

According to the court documents, the incident occurred on August 12, 2022, when Liquid Waste Solutions arrived at Boba Chick located at 906 Scott St., Houston, Texas to service a grease trap. After completing the task, Davis allegedly failed to properly secure the lid on the grease trap. As a result of this oversight, Vang fell into the grease trap on September 2, 2022, sustaining injuries to his knee, hips, and shoulder.

Vang's petition claims that both Davis and Liquid Waste Solutions "knew or reasonably should have known of the danger posed by improperly placing the lid back on the grease trap." The complaint further asserts that Defendants were negligent in ensuring that the grease trap was properly sealed. The plaintiff argues that Defendants had a duty to use ordinary care to ensure safety measures were followed but breached this duty by failing to secure the grease trap lid.

The lawsuit outlines multiple causes of action including negligence and negligent training and supervision. Vang alleges that Liquid Waste Solutions failed in their responsibility to adequately train and supervise their employees regarding proper maintenance procedures for grease traps. "Defendants knew or should have known that by not properly sealing the lid on the grease trap posed an unreasonable risk of harm," states Vang’s petition.

Additionally, Vang contends that these actions violated statutory requirements imposed by Section [unspecified] of the Texas Health & Safety Code. The plaintiff seeks monetary relief exceeding $100,000 but not more than $250,000 for medical expenses incurred due to his injuries as well as for pain and suffering. He also demands pre-judgment and post-judgment interest along with court costs.

Representing Tan T. Vang is attorney Carlos Dantes Mejias from Mejias & Associates PLLC based in Houston. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-58735 and will be presided over by Judge Christopher Matthews in Harris County's 189th Judicial District Court.
