A Polk County resident has filed a lawsuit against a local healthcare provider, alleging severe negligence that resulted in significant injuries. On September 11, 2024, Terry Walker filed a complaint in the District Court of Polk County, Texas, against Pine Ridge Health Care L.L.P., accusing the facility of failing to provide adequate medical care.

According to the court documents, Terry Walker was under the care of Pine Ridge Health Care after being discharged from CHI St Luke’s Health Hospital on December 23, 2023. Walker, an elderly patient suffering from Parkinson's disease and recovering from a fall fracture, claims that Pine Ridge Health Care failed to meet the standard of care expected from a reasonable medical facility. Specifically, Walker alleges that the healthcare professionals at Pine Ridge did not appropriately offload or turn him during his stay, leading to severe deep tissue damage.

The complaint states: "Defendant owed Plaintiff a duty to conduct themselves as medical professionals of ordinary prudence would have in similar circumstances. Defendant breached this duty when they did not provide the appropriate standard of care to Plaintiff." As a result of this alleged negligence, Walker asserts he suffered severe and acute injuries and continues to endure physical pain and mental anguish.

Walker is seeking damages exceeding $1 million for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, and both pre-judgment and post-judgment interest. The plaintiff has also requested a jury trial for all issues presented in the case.

Representing Terry Walker is Anjali Sharma from Roberts Markland LLP. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-61561 and will be presided over by Judge Christopher Matthews in the 157th Judicial District Court.
