Amanda Bryington has filed a lawsuit seeking over $1 million in damages after an alleged negligent incident involving a driver from Lakeland Tours, LLC. The complaint was lodged by Bryington on November 21, 2024, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against Edward Geiman and Lakeland Tours, LLC.
According to the details of the case, Amanda Bryington claims she suffered severe injuries on February 25, 2024, when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Edward Geiman at a crosswalk near the Houston Livestock and Rodeo BBQ Cook-Off. Bryington asserts that Geiman failed to heed traffic signals and turned into a crowd of pedestrians. The plaintiff accuses Geiman of multiple acts of negligence including inattentive driving and failure to control his vehicle's speed. She further alleges that Geiman violated several provisions of the Texas Transportation Code by speeding and ignoring traffic signals.
Bryington also holds Lakeland Tours, LLC accountable for their employee's actions under the legal doctrine of respondeat superior. She claims that the company failed in its duty to ensure safe practices through negligent hiring and inadequate training and supervision of its drivers. Furthermore, Bryington argues that these failures constitute gross negligence due to the extreme risk posed by such omissions.
The plaintiff is seeking compensation for past and future medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earnings and household services, disfigurement, as well as exemplary damages due to what she describes as gross negligence on part of both defendants. She requests a jury trial to resolve these issues.
Representing Amanda Bryington is Brittaney M. Gamboa from Attorney Brian White & Associates P.C., based in Houston. The case is filed under Case ID 2024-82073 in Harris County’s 80th District Court.
