A slip-and-fall incident at a popular buffet restaurant has led to a lawsuit, highlighting issues of premises liability and customer safety. Samuel Cervantes Rodriguez filed a complaint against Siverly Corral, LLC, doing business as Golden Corral #993, and Golden Corral Corporation in the District Court of Harris County, Texas on December 20, 2024. The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on December 29, 2024, at the Golden Corral located on the Gulf Freeway in Houston.

According to the complaint filed by Samuel Cervantes Rodriguez, he was dining at the Golden Corral when he slipped and fell in the restroom due to water on the floor. The plaintiff alleges that despite repeated attempts to regain his footing, he continued to fall because of the slippery conditions. This incident resulted in serious personal injuries for Rodriguez. He claims that as a business invitee—a customer at the restaurant—he was owed a duty of care by the defendants to ensure safe premises. The plaintiff accuses Siverly Corral and Golden Corral Corporation of failing to inspect or maintain their premises safely and not warning him about the hazardous condition.

Rodriguez's lawsuit highlights several legal accusations against the defendants. He asserts that they breached their duty of care by not inspecting or remedying the dangerous condition or adequately warning patrons like himself about it. This alleged negligence is said to have directly caused his injuries. Furthermore, Rodriguez argues that there was an unreasonable risk of harm due to water on the restroom floor—a foreseeable hazard for customers—which should have been addressed by those responsible for maintaining safety standards at Golden Corral.

The plaintiff seeks unliquidated damages within the jurisdictional limits of Harris County's court system. Specifically, he requests compensation for physical pain, mental anguish, medical expenses (past and future), physical impairment and disfigurement (past and future), lost wages, and loss of earning capacity. In compliance with Rule 47 of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, Rodriguez states that he seeks monetary relief exceeding $1 million but leaves it up to a jury's discretion to determine appropriate compensation based on evidence presented during trial proceedings.

Representing Samuel Cervantes Rodriguez are attorneys Corey Gomel and John Major Spalding from Gomel & Associates law firm based in Houston. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-88445 under Judge Marilyn Burgess' jurisdiction at Harris County District Court No.129.
