Cyndi Lombardi has filed a lawsuit against Houston Methodist Hospital and Quest Diagnostics Clinical Laboratories, Inc., alleging negligence that led to significant personal injuries. The complaint was filed on January 29, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. Lombardi claims that both defendants failed to maintain a safe environment at their premises.

According to the lawsuit, on January 31, 2023, Cyndi Lombardi was visiting the Quest Diagnostics Laboratory located within Houston Methodist Hospital when she tripped over a step stool placed next to her chair. The complaint states that Lombardi was exercising ordinary care for her safety and had no prior knowledge of the stool's hazardous placement. As a result of this incident, she sustained severe injuries and incurred substantial physical and economic damages. The lawsuit accuses the defendants of creating an unsafe condition and failing to warn customers about potential dangers on their property.

Lombardi is seeking damages exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1,000,000. She argues that the defendants were aware or should have been aware of the risks posed by the step stool and failed in their duty to ensure customer safety. The plaintiff demands compensation for past and future medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, and physical impairment caused by the accident.

The case is being handled by attorney Dustin Brown from Stanley and Associates PLLC. It has been assigned Case ID 2025-06093 in the 157th Judicial District Court of Harris County with Judge Marilyn Burgess presiding.
