Maria Armstrong has filed a lawsuit against the Houston Airport Authority and United Airlines, Inc., alleging negligence after suffering injuries from a slip-and-fall incident at George Bush Airport. The complaint was filed on January 29, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. Armstrong accuses the defendants of failing to maintain safe premises, which led to her fall and subsequent injuries.

According to the petition, Maria Armstrong, a resident of Montgomery County, Texas, experienced a slip-and-fall accident on June 25, 2024. The incident occurred at Terminal E of George Bush Airport while she was traveling internationally with her granddaughter. As Armstrong exited a bathroom near U.S. Customs Clearance, she slipped on water that had pooled from a leaking drinking fountain. In an attempt to protect her granddaughter during the fall, Armstrong injured her knee and was unable to stand or walk due to severe pain.

Armstrong's lawsuit claims that both the Houston Airport Authority and United Airlines were negligent in their duty to ensure safe walking conditions for passengers. The complaint argues that the defendants either knew or should have known about the hazardous condition created by the leaking fountain but failed to address it or provide adequate warning signs. "Defendants breached this duty by failing to maintain and ensure a safe walking area," states the petition.

As a result of this alleged negligence, Armstrong has suffered significant physical and mental distress requiring numerous medical appointments. She is seeking damages ranging from $250,000 to $1 million for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, pre-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law, and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

The case has been assigned to Judge Marilyn Burgess in Harris County's 333rd Judicial District Court under Case ID 2025-06010. Maria Armstrong is represented by attorney Kevin A. Korsberg from The Forsberg Law Firm P.C., located in Montgomery, Texas.
