In a dramatic legal move, an individual has filed a lawsuit against a well-known restaurant chain, alleging negligence and premises liability following a slip-and-fall incident. On February 14, 2025, Armando Zaipiain lodged a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, targeting Saltgrass, Inc., doing business as Saltgrass Steakhouse.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on May 28, 2023. According to the plaintiff's petition, Zaipiain was visiting the Saltgrass Steakhouse located at 4400 East Freeway in Baytown, Texas when he slipped and fell due to a slippery substance on the floor. The plaintiff asserts that this substance may have been a cleaning solution applied by the defendant's employees. Zaipiain contends that Saltgrass Steakhouse had knowledge or should have had knowledge of this hazardous condition but failed to address it adequately. The complaint further alleges that the restaurant's employees were negligent in their duty to maintain safe premises for customers.

Zaipiain claims that his injuries were caused by an "unreasonably unsafe condition" present on the premises and argues that Saltgrass Steakhouse is vicariously liable under the doctrine of respondeat superior for its employees' actions. The plaintiff maintains that these negligent acts and omissions directly resulted in his injuries and subsequent damages.

The damages sought by Zaipiain include compensation for physical pain and mental anguish experienced both in the past and anticipated in the future. He also seeks reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to the accident, as well as compensation for lost wages and diminished earning capacity. Additionally, Zaipiain is pursuing damages for physical impairment and disfigurement resulting from the fall.

In terms of relief sought from the court, Zaipiain requests monetary compensation ranging between $250,000 and $1 million. He has also demanded a jury trial to resolve this matter. Furthermore, he calls upon Saltgrass Steakhouse to disclose pertinent information required under Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.

Representing Armando Zaipiain is attorney Brian J. Stansell from Smith & Hassler law firm based in Houston, Texas. The case is being presided over by Judge Nelson Cuero in Court No. 125 with Case ID 2025-10424.
