In a gripping legal battle that highlights workplace safety concerns, a Texas resident has filed a lawsuit against his former employer for alleged negligence resulting in severe chemical burns. The complaint was filed by Randall Field on March 27, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, targeting the defendant, The Original Henrys.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on February 25, 2022, at a property owned and operated by The Original Henrys located at 10010 Clay Road in Houston. According to the plaintiff's petition, Randall Field was working as a dishwasher when he was instructed to fix a clogged pipe under the dishwasher. Unbeknownst to him, the bucket he had to lean over contained toxic chemicals. Upon standing up after completing the task, Field experienced severe burning sensations and redness on his stomach and chest. He sought urgent medical treatment for chemical burns that resulted from this exposure.

Field alleges that The Original Henrys failed to provide adequate warnings or take preventive measures to avoid such incidents. "Defendant and their supervisors failed to warn Plaintiff prior to the incident," states the petition. Moreover, it accuses the company of being negligent by not ensuring a safe work environment—a duty they were obligated to fulfill under Texas law since they opted out of subscribing to workers' compensation insurance.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million for medical expenses incurred due to past injuries and potential future treatments. Additionally, Field demands compensation for physical pain and suffering endured both in the past and anticipated in the future. His claims also extend to mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life due to permanent disfigurement caused by his injuries.

Represented by attorneys Ralph P. Manginello and Lupe Pena from The Manginello Law Firm PLLC based in Houston, Field is determined to hold The Original Henrys accountable for what he perceives as gross negligence leading to his personal injuries. He has requested a jury trial where he hopes justice will be served through an award covering all damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court.

The case has been assigned Case ID 2025-20592 and will be presided over by Judge Talitha McCarty in Harris County's 190th Judicial District Court.
