A commercial vehicle driver has filed a lawsuit against a metal company following a workplace accident that resulted in significant personal injuries. On April 4, 2025, Steve Saad submitted a complaint to the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against L & A Metals LLC. The case highlights serious allegations of negligence and gross negligence by the defendant.
Steve Saad, an owner-operator commercial vehicle driver residing in Texas, accuses L & A Metals LLC of negligence leading to his injury during an incident on December 20, 2024. According to the petition, Saad was directed by L & A Metals employees to load forklifts onto his trailer at their Cypress, Texas location. While attempting to load a smaller forklift under the company's direction, Saad was instructed to drive it off the side of the ramp. This led to the forklift tipping over with Saad inside, causing him personal harm. The plaintiff asserts that L & A Metals failed in several critical areas: providing accurate directions, ensuring safety protocols were followed, offering proper protective equipment, and adequately training their employees.
Saad's lawsuit is built on claims of both negligence and gross negligence. He argues that L & A Metals demonstrated an extreme degree of risk without regard for safety standards or employee welfare. "Defendant had actual subjective awareness of the risk involved but nevertheless proceeded in conscious indifference," states the complaint. As such, Saad seeks punitive damages alongside compensation for his physical pain and suffering—both past and future—mental anguish, medical expenses incurred due to the incident, loss of earning capacity and household services.
The plaintiff demands a jury trial and is pursuing damages exceeding $1 million from L & A Metals LLC. The suit also requests pre-judgment and post-judgment interest as well as coverage for legal costs associated with this action.
Representing Steve Saad are attorneys Anthony G. Buzbee and Ryan S. Pigg from The Buzbee Law Firm based in Houston, Texas. The case has been assigned Case ID 2025-23342 under Judge Christopher Matthews in Harris County's 151st Judicial District Court.
