A woman is taking legal action against a local business after suffering severe injuries due to alleged negligence on the premises. Jennifer Figueroa filed an amended petition in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on April 28, 2025, accusing MAA Almeda Plaza, LLC of failing to maintain safe conditions at their gas station.

According to the court documents, Figueroa was injured on January 2, 2024, while visiting the defendant's gas station located at 13350 Almeda Rd., Houston. As she exited the establishment, she stepped into an uncovered hole meant for fuel tankers to access underground tanks. The protective cover was missing, leading to her fall and subsequent injuries. "There were no warning signs present or any other signs of caution near the area where the incident occurred," states the complaint. Figueroa claims that as an invitee, she had no knowledge of this hazardous condition and could not have reasonably expected to discover it.

The plaintiff alleges that MAA Almeda Plaza, LLC was aware or should have been aware of this dangerous situation but failed to rectify it or warn her about it. The lawsuit accuses the company of negligence under premises liability law for not maintaining safe conditions and failing to inform visitors about potential hazards. Specific allegations include failure to inspect and correct dangerous conditions and neglecting to take reasonable measures to ensure safety.

Figueroa seeks monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but less than $1 million for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment and disfigurement, lost wages, and loss of earning capacity. She also requests pre-judgment and post-judgment interest along with court costs.

Representing Jennifer Figueroa is Matthew Morris from Daspit Law Firm in Houston. The case is filed under Cause No. 2025-29551 in Harris County's Judicial District Court with Judge Wanda Chambers presiding.
