Cristina Beltran Santiago has filed a lawsuit against two prominent Houston businesses, alleging negligence that led to her serious injuries. The complaint was filed on April 16, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County by Santiago against Adventure Supermarkets LLC, doing business as La Michoacana Meat Market, and Montega Ltd., doing business as La Campera Tortilla Factory.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on March 2, 2024, when Santiago visited La Michoacana's premises at 12385 Bissonnet Street in Houston. According to the filing, Santiago was grocery shopping when she tripped over a box negligently placed by an employee of La Campera. The box was positioned behind her without any warning signs or barricades, leading to her fall and resulting in significant injuries to her knees and right side. Santiago claims that the absence of safety measures created a hazardous condition directly causing her injuries. She asserts that both La Michoacana and La Campera failed to maintain safe premises and did not provide adequate warnings about potential dangers.

Santiago's legal team argues that the defendants' negligence extends beyond this specific incident. They claim that the businesses failed to train their employees properly on maintaining safety protocols and neglected their duty to inspect and rectify dangerous conditions on their premises. The lawsuit accuses the defendants of failing to act as reasonably prudent operators would under similar circumstances. As a result of these alleged oversights, Santiago has suffered physical pain, emotional distress, medical expenses, and other damages.

In seeking justice, Santiago is asking for monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million. Her demands include compensation for past and future medical expenses, loss of earnings and earning capacity, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, and other related damages. Additionally, she has requested a jury trial to resolve the matter.

Representing Cristina Beltran Santiago is attorney Moises Morales III from Moises Morales Law Firm located in Houston. The case is presided over by a judge from the Harris County District Court under Case ID 2025-26860.
