Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of four new lawsuits regarding hurricane damage claims were filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court, Dec. 7-11, 2009.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Loretta Bodwin of 2535 Gladys Ave. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Bodwin will be represented by Kenneth W. Lewis of Bush Lewis in Beaumont and by Scott Renick in Beaumont. Jefferson County Circuit Court case number: A185-476.

  • Charlotte Holzapel of 2617 Elizabeth St. in Port Neches alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for wind-related damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Holzapel will be represented by Lance P. Bradley and Kelly J. Stewart of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele and Chatelain in Port Arthur. Jefferson County Circuit Court case number: D185-459.

  • Randall Skipper doing business as Mr. Garbage of 4745 Fannett Road in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Skipper will be represented by Kenneth W. Lewis of Bush Lewis in Beaumont and by Scott Renick of Beaumont. Jefferson County Circuit Court case number: D185-475.

  • John and Jennifer Wilson of 8190 Dawn Drive in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after it assigned adjusters Glen Minehart and Timothy Weir to investigate. Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing the Wilsons. Jefferson County Circuit Court case number: B185-461.
