Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of six new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Nov. 29-Dec. 3, 2010.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Hustle Bustle, doing business as Southern Kitchen, of 2749 Memorial Blvd. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for business interruption, contents, loss of income, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after it assigned All-Tech Claims Management and adjuster Brandon Beavers to investigate, according to the complaint. Hustle Bustle will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-887.

  • Jimmie L. May Sr. and Linda C. May of 2149 Green Ave. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Mays will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A188-890.

  • Martin Petkovsek of 642 Sue Lane in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for dwelling and contents damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Petkovsek will be represented by Wyatt D. Snider, Justin G. Sanderson and Russell W. Heald of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A188-914.

  • Cornell and Kimberly Price of 1090 Prairie St. in Beaumont allege Farmers Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Prices will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: D188-893.

  • Lillian Walker of 1230 Trinity Ave. in Port Arthur alleges Fire Insurance Exchange denied her claim for foundation, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Walker will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: A188-882.

  • Georgia Womack of 4695 Country Club Blvd. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof and other damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Womack will be represented by Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-891.
