A former client has filed suit against Beaumont attorney Todd LeBlanc, alleging the lawyer failed to deliver him a promised plea agreement.
Representing himself, Victor Williams filed the suit July 20 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, in May 2004 Williams hired LeBlanc to represent him in an aggravated sexual assault case. In 2006 and 2007, Williams was also charged with two separate counts of retaliation and claims he hired LeBlanc to defend him on both counts.
Although no contract was signed for representation, LeBlanc was paid around $17,000 for the handling of the cases, according to the lawsuit.
In his suit, Williams says that he is dissatisfied with LeBlanc's handling of the retaliation claims and that LeBlanc misled him into signing a 10-year plea agreement on the aggravated assault charge.
Williams claims he would have never agreed to the plea agreement if he knew it carried an aggravated charge.
He is suing for punitive and compensatory damages, plus pain suffered.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
