A man has filed suit against three companies that he claims engaged in fraud and ruined his business.

Christopher Matos, doing business as Amelia Burger, claims he entered into a series of complex real estate deals with defendants Remington Leasing, G.A. Wimberly, American Builders, Ronnie Walker and BBVA Compass Bank.

In his complaint, Matos alleges the defendants had approached him about the lending and real estate transactions, saying they would benefit him. However, through the transactions, Matos lost nearly all of his assets and business, according to the complaint filed Feb. 14 in Jefferson County District Court.

Matos says the defendants violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

He is seeking interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

John S. Morgan of Morgan Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing him.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

Case No. D193-944
